Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Nursing Care Assistant I (CNA) for night shifts (7:00pm–7:00am) in the General Surgery/Bariatric Unit. You will work with RN/LPN teams to provide direct patient care, perform basic nursing tasks, and help with admission, discharge and transport.

Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, recording vital signs, assisting with meals and personal care, and maintaining infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care and support under RN/LPN supervision.
• Knowledge of basic health and safety practices in hospital.
• Ability to document and communicate patient information.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide manual assistance.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records.
• Provide personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulation support.
• Assist with teaching and reinforce instructions from RN/LPN.
• Support physicians and nurses during examinations by positioning patients.
• Take and record vital signs and input/output. Use PPE as required.
• Notice and report changes in patient condition to RN/LPN.
• Assist with admission, discharge and transport of patients.
• Perform fingersticks for blood glucose testing as trained.
• Stock and maintain unit supplies and equipment.
