Job summary

Duke Health is hiring a Nursing Assistant I for the Duke University Health System in Durham, NC. This full-time role supports RNs and LPNs by providing direct patient care and assisting with unit coordination.

The position requires current NA I certification with the NC DHHS and BCLS certification, with responsibilities including basic care, charting, and patient transport in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in nursing assistant roles or patient-care support is preferred.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by start of employment.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 35 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide needed assistance.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN.
• Administer routine care including feeding, bathing, dressing, hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and patient transportation as needed.
• Document and communicate patient information in the EMR and Acknowledge orders.
