Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Saint Cloud, MN is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide safe, compassionate care under the supervision of registered or licensed practical nurses in the VA Community Living Center.

You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor patients, and help maintain a clean, safe environment. The position offers full-time and part-time schedules with rotating day, evening, and night shifts.

Qualifications

• US citizenship requirement; English language proficiency for direct patient care.
• Proficiency in basic written and spoken English per VA standards.
• Six (6) months of general experience or equivalent education/training for NA.
• OVERVIEW: Grade determinations GS-3 to GS-5 criteria and KSAs.
• Physical requirements: ability to stand, lift, and assist with mobility and daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to residents including bathing, grooming, toileting, and oral hygiene.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, turning, positioning, and ambulation.
• Support nutritional needs by serving meals, assisting feeding, and monitoring intake/output.
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff.
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to licensed staff promptly.
• Maintain infection control and PPE usage; ensure a safe environment.
• Document care provided and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
