The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Erie VAMC Community Living Center Alpha is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, resident-centered care. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor health status, support clinical staff, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for Veterans.

Ideal candidates demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to high-quality long-term care. Inpatient or long-term care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Six months of general experience.
• English Language Proficiency: NAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005 - part II - chapter 3 - section A - paragraph 3j.
• Grandfathering Provisions: All NAs employed in VHA on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements.

Responsabilités

• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility).
• Obtains, measures, and records vital signs.
• Reports changes in patient status to nursing staff.
• Assists with restorative and rehabilitative care (positioning, transfers, ROM, safe ambulation).
• Observes and documents resident condition (pain, skin integrity, intake/output).
• Collects specimens and provides basic clinical support (dressings, wound care).
• Maintains a clean, safe, therapeutic environment; participates in care planning discussions.
