Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Community Living Center in Papillion, NE.

You will support Veterans with activities of daily living, grooming, feeding, and mobility, under supervision, in a setting focused on skill-building and comfort. Responsibilities include basic clinical tasks, patient transport, and collaboration with the RN/LPN care team to support rehabilitation goals and safety.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of general experience
• Experience must demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge and skills to perform NA duties
• OR - One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing care or NA occupation
• AND KSAs demonstrating ability to provide patient care, observe status, use basic equipment, and communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Takes and records temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, pulse oximetry, height and weight
• Assists with bathing, shaving, feeding, oral hygiene, ambulation, and dressing
• Performs basic procedures such as blood glucose testing and bladder scans
• Sets up equipment such as oxygen tanks, suction canisters, and monitors
• Escorts patients to different areas and assists RN/LPN in rehabilitation goals and safety
• Promotes veteran participation and supports suicide prevention initiatives
• Documents daily living activities in the electronic patient record system
