Job summary

Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the VA Community Living Center at the Saint Cloud VA Medical Center in Saint Cloud, MN. You will provide safe, basic personal care and assist with activities of daily living under supervision of RNs or LPNs.

Responsibilities include supporting mobility, nutrition, vital signs, and documentation while maintaining a safe environment and adhering to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• English proficiency required for direct patient care
• Six months of general experience OR one year of education above high school related to NA
• Knowledge of nursing care tasks and ability to follow care plans
• Ability to observe and report changes, communicate effectively, and assist with basic nursing procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to residents including bathing, grooming, toileting, and oral hygiene
• Assist with mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics
• Assist with meals and monitor intake/output
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, oxygen saturation)
• Observe and report changes to licensed staff promptly
• Maintain skin integrity and prevent pressure injuries
• Collect specimens as ordered and assist with procedures
• Assist with elimination needs including toileting, incontinence care and catheter care
• Provide respiratory support and assist with oxygen therapy as directed
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
• Document care provided and observations in charts
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning
• Work schedules: full-time and part-time; rotating shifts; weekends/holidays as required
