Qualifications

• Six months of general experience.
• One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing care.
• Completion of an intensive occupation-related training course of study (<1 year).
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families.
• Proficiency in basic English per VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to residents, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
• Assist residents with mobility, including transferring, turning, positioning, and ambulation.
• Support residents with nutritional needs by serving meals, assisting with feeding, and monitoring intake and output.
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, oxygen saturation).
• Observe and report changes in residents' condition to licensed staff promptly.
• Maintain skin integrity and report signs of pressure injuries.
• Collect specimens and assist with diagnostic procedures as directed.
• Manage elimination needs and maintain accurate output documentation.
• Provide respiratory support and help with oxygen therapy as directed.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment following infection control protocols.
