Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant 2 to provide compassionate patient care under RN supervision in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. You will interact with patients and visitors, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a clean, respectful care environment.

Qualified candidates will have at least one year of direct patient care and may hold NYS CNA certification. This is a per diem role with potential shift differentials and comprehensive employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Required: One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Preferred: NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved certified nursing aide training program, one year of patient care experience and a High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change dressings and assist with enemas and related procedures.
• Apply hot/cold therapy as directed (hot water bottles, aqua K pads, ice bags, and compresses).
• Chart and document care and/or behaviors as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate.
• Attend to daily living activities and maintain a comfortable clinical environment.
• Feed persons requiring assistance to ensure appropriate nourishment.
• Bathe and dress, brush teeth, and trim nails.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform light housekeeping related to direct care as needed.
