Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II to provide empathic, patient-centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will communicate with patients, families, and visitors to explain procedures, hours, and care plans while maintaining integrity and respect.

The role includes assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, supporting feeding and hygiene, and helping maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Possession of or ability to acquire necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
• One year of satisfactory full-time patient care experience under supervision.
• Preferred: NYS CNA license or CNA training program certification; HS diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings and assist with enemas as directed.
• Take temperatures, pulse, BP and respiration rates.
• Attend to daily living activities and personal hygiene.
• Feed patients requiring assistance with nourishment.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity and confidentiality.
• Assist with light housekeeping related to direct care.
