Stony Brook Medicine is seeking Nursing Assistants I/II to join the 16 North Medicine/Telemetry team. You will work under RN supervision, communicating with patients and visitors, supporting care procedures and daily living activities in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• NURSING ASSISTANT 1-Required: Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
• NURSING ASSISTANT 2-Required: One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• Preferred: NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or certification from an approved certified nursing aide training program, one year of patient care experience and a High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings as directed and assist with basic care tasks.
• Take vital signs including temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Attend to daily living activities and personal hygiene to support patient comfort.
• Feed patients requiring assistance to ensure adequate nourishment.
• Assist with bathing, dressing and grooming as needed.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity and confidentiality.
• May perform light housekeeping to keep the clinical area clean and sanitary.
