Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks Nursing Assistant I/II for the Pre Surgical Admissions unit. Under RN supervision, provide empathetic patient care, communicate treatment procedures, and assist with routine tasks to support a clean, safe clinical environment.

This full-time day shift position requires strong communication, reliable attendance, and adherence to hospital standards. Training and credentialing may be completed as part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time experience in the provision of simple treatment and other patient care services under professional supervision.
• NYS Certified Nursing Assistant license or equivalent is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings and assist with basic treatments when directed.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rates.
• Attend to daily living activities and personal needs.
• Feed and assist patients with nourishment as needed.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform limited housekeeping duties to support patient care.
