Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to perform patient care and assist nursing staff in a hospital setting. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, and basic charting while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, nursing assistant training, CPR certification preferred, and solid communication skills to interact with patients, families, and the care team.
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related non professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients They also assist the professional and technical nursing staff by performing any delegated duties specialized procedures and assists with care of seriously ill patient
Reports directly to Nurse Manager andor Charge Nurse
Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functionsProvides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed NursePerforms or assists patient with activities of daily living showering bathing dressing feeding activityCommunicates abnormal variances of data vital signs pain etc to appropriate staffCollects information regarding patientpatient condition vital signs intake and output food intakeConsistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasksParticipates in best practices in a consistent and positive manner; huddles hourly rounding bedside reportingService Excellence and the use of the white boardsCollaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient careUtilizes unit specific equipment competentlyCompetently performs unit specific proceduresIs knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI planMakes suggestionsrecommendations for improved operationsFollows established hospitaldepartment safety policiesUnderstands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patientsindividuals bring to interactionsThe above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job The incumbents may be requested to perform job related tasks other than those stated in this description
High school graduateGED preferredPrior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may be used as a substitute to the education requirementGraduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferredCPR certified preferredBasic computer skillsAbility to communicate professionally with patient family peers and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgmentRequires emotional stability and maturity; must be adaptable to change be decisive and demonstrate foresight; exhibits organizational and leadership abilityPhysical DemandsWork Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time bending stooping and lifting The work environment may be physically confining Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices if duties require listening with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds heart sounds and bowel sounds Ability to do shift work as requiredReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
