Job summary

Essentia Health in Kentucky is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include personal hygiene, nutrition assistance, comfort care, safe transfers, vital signs, and precise recordkeeping to support high-quality care.

You will aid unit workflow, perform clerical tasks, requisition supplies, and assist with scheduling while upholding Joint Commission standards and patient safety. BLS certification within 1 month is required.

Qualifications

• 6 months of nursing assistant experience or equivalent clinical rotations required
• Completion of a recognized nurse aide training program or verification of nursing program rotations
• Current state nursing assistant registry registration
• BLS certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutrition for patients
• Provide comfort care and safe patient handling
• Assist with transferring patients and maintaining a safe environment
• Take vital signs and document accurately
• Recognize and report changes in patient condition to the RN
• Support unit workflow and provide excellent customer service to patients and families
• Perform clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies and schedule assistance

Education

Nursing assistant experience (6 months)

One semester of clinical rotations

Nurse aide training program completion

Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

BLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 month

Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.Along with organizes, and implements the non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff. Position promotes efficient unit function and indirect resident care. Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Must meet one of the following requirements:

• 6 months of nursing assistant experience
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

• BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date
