Job summary

Essentia Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our 32nd Avenue Building team. Working 0.8 FTE on day rotation from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, you will provide direct patient care, assist with daily activities, monitor vitals, and maintain clean, safe surroundings.

Under RN supervision, you will support our mission to make a healthy difference in people’s lives. A CNA is preferred; if not, registration as a Nurse Assistant within three months is required, with BLS within 3

Qualifications

• Direct care to patients under supervision by RN/Unit leadership.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• CNA preferred; if none, must be registered as Nurse Assistant within 3 months of date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care and assist with nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other assistance as needed.
• Safely transfer patients and document changes in condition.
• Take vital signs and complete accurate recordkeeping.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies

Education Qualifications:

No educational requirement.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health preferred, if no CNA, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of date of employment.

BLS certification required within 3 months after hire.

Certification Requirements:

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.
