Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Progressive Care CNA (PCU/IMCU) to join our step-down unit. You will assist with direct patient care, monitor vital signs, support mobility, and help with basic procedures under nurse supervision.

Required: current CNA certification, BLS within 30 days, knowledge of Medical Terminology, and at least 6 months in acute care. Full-time, day shifts with a sign-on bonus available.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certificate upon hire.
• Current BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months’ experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help patients maintain hygiene and comfort with daily tasks.
• Monitor and document vital signs to aid the care team.
• Assist with mobility and transfers to support circulation and safety.
• Observe patient condition and report concerns to the nursing staff.
• Support basic medical procedures under nurse supervision.

Location: Providence Medical Center – Kansas City, KS

We are seeking a Progressive Care CNA, also referred to as a PCU CNA, Stepdown CNA or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) CNA. The PCU CNA will work in our step-down unit and provide essential support to nurses by delivering direct patient care to patients who require close monitoring but more stable than those in the ICU.

Responsibilities

If you have experience in the Critical Care Unit (CCU), Telemetry (Tele) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or other acute care area of the hospital you are encouraged to apply!

• Help patients maintain their personal hygiene and comfort by assisting with daily tasks they may struggle with due to illness or weakness (such as bathing, dressing, feeding and toileting)
• Monitor and document vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature which helps the healthcare team track patient progress and detect early signs of decline or improvement
• Help with patient mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation to prevent complications and help with circulation
• Observe patients for changes in condition and reporting concerns promptly to nursing staff
• Supporting basic medical procedures under nurse supervision, such as collecting specimens or helping with wound care
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, including infection control measures

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
• Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
