Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care across our Orange and Irvine locations. Primary duties include taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a clean, safe unit environment.

The role requires English proficiency, completion of CNA/LVN or enrollment in a nursing program with at least one clinical semester, and current BLS certification. Weekend/holiday work and institutional policies apply.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology (required).
• Must float between the Orange and Irvine locations as needed.
• Nursing Assistants hired before May 2010 without CNA certification are not required to obtain it now.
• Must read/write/speak English effectively.
• Must be CNA/LVN or enrolled in a nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester completed.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate therapeutically with patients.
• Previous patient care experience, preferably in acute care.
• Current BLS certification issued by the AHA.
• Must complete workplace violence training within 30 days of hire and annually.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks.
• Support other related duties as assigned.
