Job summary

UC Irvine Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support patient care by taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a safe unit environment. The role requires flexibility to float between Orange and Irvine locations and maintain high standards of patient communication.

Applicants should have CNA or LVN credentials or be enrolled in a nursing program with at least one clinical semester, along with current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English
• Must be Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a CNA are not required to obtain it
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA)
• Approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
