Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, North Carolina is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to provide routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting under supervision. The position supports a 36-hour work week on an active neuroscience unit (5 West) and includes bedside care, patient safety, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualified applicants will hold the Nursing Assistant I credential in North Carolina and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English language.
• Able to develop basic computer skills.
• Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Observe, collect, and document patient information and report significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Provide care/treatments as outlined in the plan of care, including vital signs, wound care, and activities of daily living.
• Support patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge from the clinical area.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living and assist with ambulation as needed.
• Maintain the work area and assist with patient transport, supply restocking, and routine clerical functions.
