Qualifications

• RN/LPN with current license in the State of New Jersey.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in nursing, plus responsibilities of taking charge of a unit.
• Experience in working with the disabled, preferably in a rehabilitation or long term setting, desirable.
• Skill in problem solving, goal setting, and ability to utilize appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
• Ability to focus on the total person rather than on specific disability or presenting problem.

• Demonstration of leadership and creativity. A self-starter with proven management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality nursing care in accordance with recognized standards of nursing practice and Cheshire Home policies.
• Provide leadership and promote sound communications throughout the Nursing Department and report regularly to the Clinical Coordinator any trends with staff or residents that do not appear satisfactorily resolved.
• Interact with residents and staff through a genuine concern for the smooth operations of the shift and the Nursing Department.
• Report for duty before shift change and receive report from prior shift Charge Nurse; handover to oncoming shift Charge Nurse using care plans and twenty-four hour report sheet.
• Maintains resident health records and ensure changes in physician orders or resident status are documented and compliant with regulations.
• Supervise and mentor CNAs and assist with scheduling to ensure full staffing.
