Job summary

State of Colorado seeks a Nurse III to supervise professional nursing care for incarcerated individuals in outpatient clinics, infirmaries, or specialized cell houses. The role includes shift supervision, on-call duties, and ensuring compliant, high-quality patient care within a correctional facility.

You will be responsible for patient education, nursing assessments, and maintaining secure clinical environments while coordinating staff and resources across units to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the eNLC.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, guides, and directs professional nursing care for inmates in outpatient, infirmary, or cell-house settings.
• Delivers patient education and explains self-care techniques and potential side effects of treatments.
• Performs routine and emergency assessments of inmates and provides nursing care per protocols.
• Ensures safety and security of the clinical environment and controls contraband.
• Manages payroll, scheduling, and performance management for nursing staff and coordinates shift operations.
