Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a Nurse III (Nurse Supervisor) to lead skilled nursing care for incarcerated individuals in outpatient, infirmary, or specialized units. The role may involve shift work, weekends, and on-call duties with responsibilities for clinical supervision and staff coordination.

The position requires an active RN license (Colorado or eNLC) and at least three years of professional nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or eNLC.
• Three (3) years of professional nursing experience as a full-time RN.
• Substitutions allow a bachelor’s degree for 1 year of experience or a master/doctorate for 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct professional nursing care for inmates in clinic, infirmary or cell house.
• Provide patient education on self-care, medications, and treatment side effects.
• Perform routine and emergency assessments during triage and care.
• Maintain safety, inventory, and strict contraband controls in the clinical area.
• Oversee payroll, scheduling, PMP, and daily operations for nursing staff.
• Assist in hiring and staff development; participate in promotions and disciplinary actions.
