Job summary

New York State Department of Health is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 to lead a large nursing team, oversee clinical practice, and ensure policy implementation at the Montrose Veterans Home. The role involves direct/indirect supervision, staff scheduling, and performance evaluation.

The incumbent will manage narcotics stewardship, serve as administrator on duty when needed, and audit records. Strong leadership and NYS RN licensure are required; some positions may be eligible for HELPS

Qualifications

• Current NYS employee or eligible transfer with RN licensure and registration in NYS.
• Two years of service in a grade that requires RN licensure may qualify for provisional appointment.
• Masters or Doctorate substitutions may replace post-licensure experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and indirect supervision of professional and clinical staff.
• Ensure implementation of facility policies and procedures.
• Audit clinical records and monitor documentation.
• Provide clinical leadership to nursing staff and act as administrator on duty when needed.
• Meet with nursing personnel regularly to plan and evaluate care.
