Job summary

Stony Brook University’s Long Island State Veterans Home is seeking a Nurse Supervisor to coordinate and supervise resident care on the assigned shift. The role requires liaison with nursing leadership, ensuring staffing, supplies, equipment, and a safe environment while upholding resident rights.

Weekend/holiday rotations are required. Minimum qualifications include NYS RN license, clinical experience with adults, an AAS degree and 2 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• NYS Registered Nurse License is required.
• Clinical practice experience with adults/aging population in a clinical setting.
• AAS degree required; two years supervisory experience in health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director of Nursing in developing a reporting system across staff levels.
• Collaborate with Nurse/Managers to supervise staff on assigned shift.
• Supervise and evaluate care needs ensuring adequate staffing, supplies, equipment and a safe environment.
• Ensure residents' rights are understood and promoted.
• Coordinate with other professionals and departments to ensure quality resident care.
• Serve as role model and preceptor for student nurses; accessible to residents and families.
