Job summary
New York State Department of Health's Veterans Home at Montrose seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver nursing care under supervision. You will administer medications, monitor vital signs, and participate in care plans tailored to residents’ needs.
You will also assist with activities of daily living, educate residents and families, and support unlicensed staff to maintain a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
- A valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license or eligibility for limited permit.
- One+ years in a permanent or contingent-permanent role at Grade 8+ or eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law 70.1.
- Long-Term Care experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care per treatment plans and scope of practice.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Record vital signs and report changes to supervising nurses or physicians.
- Assist with activities of daily living and patient hygiene.
- Educate patients and families about health, medications, and treatment goals.
- Supervise unlicensed direct care staff as needed to ensure safe care.
