Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to perform comprehensive medical evaluations for MEPS applicants, ensuring compliance with DoD and military medical standards. This on-site role requires CAC/clearance readiness and will involve leadership across health assessments and documentation using the MHS Genesis system.

Candidates should hold an NP degree with board certification, an unrestricted license, and relevant MEPS or military healthcare familiarity.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral Degree in NP program accredited by ANCC/ANPCP.
• Board certification in FNP/ANP/AGNP/ACNP.
• Current, unrestricted NP license in any US state or territory.
• Minimum 1 year post-graduate direct patient care in last 3 years.
• MEPS facilities experience preferred; familiarity with military medical standards is a plus.
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse teams and military stakeholders.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications for government clearance.
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross).
• Must hold current RN and NP licenses; CAC/PIV preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical histories and physical exams for military applicants per DoD standards.
• Review medical documents, test results, and histories to determine qualifications.
• Lead mental health and general health assessments with specialists when needed.
• Apply military medical accession standards and recommend additional evaluations.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and privacy regulations.
• Document histories, exams, and consultations in MHS Genesis EHR.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all medical documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for smooth operations.
• Assist with risk management and improve medical processing workflows.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
