Job summary

University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) seeks an Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) to oversee day-to-day department operations, mentor staff, and drive quality initiatives. You will partner with physicians, nursing teams, and leadership to optimize resources and patient care delivery.

The role emphasizes evaluation of practice standards, participation in research, and ensuring compliance with education requirements and policies.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
• Minimum of five years clinical experience, preferably in an academic health care setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications.
• Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships.
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the EHR with on-the-job training.
• Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
• Nationally certified through ANCC approved certifier, or within 6 months of hire in area relevant to clinical area.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Operations, assist in evaluation of practice and implementation of best measures for quality patient care.
• Act as a professional leadership role model.
• Work flexible shifts and days when required.
• Promote Shared Leadership as nursing governance method.
• Participate in organizational communication through timely responses to messages.
• Demonstrate competency in departmental IS applications.
• Establish regular communication with physicians and leadership to review status and programs.
• Participate in process and quality improvement of nursing systems.
• Develop and implement quality indicators.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on patient flow and capacity.
