Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Nursing Unit Leader to guide clinical practice and staff in a dynamic hospital environment. The role requires a BSN, three years of progressive clinical and management experience, and NJ RN licensure.

NIH Stroke Scale certification or ability to obtain is expected for eligible units. You will lead quality improvement and collaborate across disciplines to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• BSN required.
• Three years progressive clinical and management practice in patient care area.
• AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Registered Nurse - NJ.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification (or must obtain by end of orientation) and 8 hours of Stroke-related CNE annually if assigned to specific units.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates unit and facility teams/committees that impact practice and aligns with facility initiatives.
• Demonstrates effective communication and assists in conflict resolution among healthcare team members, patients and families.
• Delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities while supporting staff development.
• Ensures compliance with Nursing Practice Act, Board regulations and organizational policies.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives and monitors patient care satisfaction.
• Develops safe clinical systems, policies and procedures based on evidence and benchmarks.
• Manages budgeting, resource allocation and financial implications of patient care decisions.
• Participates in staff recruitment, selection and retention processes.
