Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM). This registered nurse will coordinate staffing, support throughput, quality and safety outcomes, and provide operational and administrative support to nurse leadership, working with the Nurse Manager to implement the nursing strategic plan.

The ANM will lead staff development, participate in performance evaluations, mentor frontline staff, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• RN license required (NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License).
• BSN in progress or higher preferred; MSN acceptable to satisfy BSN.
• Minimum 3 years of recent nursing experience in the specialty.
• Ability to lead, mentor staff and participate in committees.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Participate with recruitment and retention strategies.
• Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees.
• Participates with unit goal creation aligned with hospital goals.
• Participate or lead evidence-based practice projects or research.
• Participate or lead unit-based or hospital-based governance committees.
• Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions.
• Complete employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary.
• Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations.
• Contribute to unit orientation processes and staff development.
• Model cultural competence and foster diverse teams.
• Escalate nursing labor/management issues when applicable.
• Payroll, scheduling and budget monitoring for the department.
• Monitor unit staffing productivity and adjust as needed.
• Lead multidisciplinary rounds and drive quality/safety initiatives.
• Ensure unit regulatory compliance and staff competency.
• Mentor new employees and Charge RNs; uphold professional standards.
