MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute in Old Brooklyn is seeking a Nurse Intern for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit, 5N. You will work with RNs, LPNs, PCNAs, and clinicians on stroke rehabilitation, neurological assessments, mobility training, and vital signs care.

Requirements include enrollment in an accredited nursing program, completion of fundamentals, and active rotations; eligibility to continue for up to 6 months after graduation with BLS certification or within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited nursing program (or seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing.
• Currently registered in clinical rotations.
• Continuously enrolled in a nursing program.
• Eligible to continue in the position for up to 6 months after graduation.
• Current AHA BLS for the healthcare provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing
• Currently registered in clinical rotations
• Continuous enrollment in a nursing program
• Eligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.
