Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute- Old Brooklyn is seeking a Nurse Intern to assist in stroke and neuro trauma recovery units. You will perform neurological assessments, support ADLs, and help with transfers and mobility under supervision.

Responsibilities include vitals, IV care, catheter care, wound care, and collaboration with RNs, therapists, and social work staff. Enrolled nursing students in accredited programs may participate; completion of fundamentals of nursing and rotation status

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing and currently in clinical rotations.
• Eligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with neurological assessments and ADLs under supervision.
• Support transfer and mobility training for patients.
• Monitor vital signs, IVs, Foley catheter care, wound care as assigned.
• Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, PCNAs and therapy teams in patient care.

Bi-weekly Hours: 16.00

Shift: Variable Days and Shifts

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds
