MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute- Old Brooklyn is seeking a Nurse Intern for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit (5N). This part-time internship supports RNs, LPNs, and care teams in neurological assessments, ADLs, transfers, mobility training, and vital signs.

Opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while rotating through inpatient rehabilitation with structured mentorship. Position offers bi-weekly hours of 16, with shifts varying by day.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing.
• Currently registered in clinical rotations.
• Eligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school.
• Current AHA BLS for healthcare providers certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds
