MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute- Old Brooklyn in Cleveland, OH, seeks a Nurse Intern for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit, 5N. The role supports patient care under RN supervision with 16 hours biweekly and variable shifts.

You will collaborate with RNs, LPNs, PCNAs, therapists and social workers on a 14-bed unit, performing neurological assessments, ADLs, mobility transfers, vital signs and basic wound care while gaining hands-on nursing experience toward licensure.

Formación

• Enrolled in accredited nursing program
• Completed fundamentals of nursing
• Currently registered in clinical rotations
• Continuous enrollment in nursing program; eligible to continue in position 6 months after graduating
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire

Responsabilidades

• Support RNs, LPNs, and PCNAs on the Neuro Trauma Recovery Stroke Unit 5N
• Assist with patient care tasks, vital signs, IVs, wound care and mobility
• Collaborate with therapists, social workers and other care team members
• Document care activities and participate in rounds

Primary Patient Population:

• Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Neurological assessments
• Adaptive ADLs
• Transfer/Mobility training
• Vital signs, IVs, Foley Catheter insertion/removal, Wound care, etc.

Personnel Nurse Intern will work with:

• RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Completed fundamentals of nursing
• Currently registered in clinical rotations
• Continuous enrollment in a nursing programEligibility to continue in the position is a maximum of 6 months upon graduating from nursing school
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.
