Job summary

UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center is seeking a Nursing extern for the Nights shift (7p-7a) with weekend rotation. Open to nursing students entering their final year with graduation between December 2027 and May 2028. Program runs 8 weeks from June 14, 2027 to August 7, 2027, with 36-40 hours weekly across three 12-hour shifts.

Emphasis on patient care under RN supervision in inpatient/outpatient settings. Students may work as a Nurse Extern until graduation; upon completion they should pursue

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled nursing student who graduates Dec 2027–May 2028.
• BSN students in 3rd year or ASN students in 1st year are eligible.
• May remain employed as a Nurse extern until graduation and board completion.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative support under supervision of a UVA Community Health RN.
• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery.
• Provides a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
• Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and per policy.
