UVA Health Culpeper Community Health is offering a Nurse Extern program for nursing students in their final year. The eight-week rotation runs June–August at Culpeper facilities, with 36–40 hours per week and three 12-hour shifts.

Applicants must be nursing students graduating December 2027–May 2028, with options for continued employment upon graduation. The role is non-exempt and paid at $17.28 hourly, with orientation preceding the schedule.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled nursing student graduating Dec 2027–May 2028.
• BSN students who have completed their 3rd year; ASN students who have completed their 1st year.
• Nurse Extern may be employed until graduation completion. Following graduation and board completion they will need to apply for open positions.

Responsabilités

• Performs patient care and administrative support under the supervision of a UVA Community Health RN in inpatient or outpatient settings.
• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
• Performs basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN and in accordance with policy and procedures to promote patient health and wellness.
• Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
