UVA Health Community Health is offering a nurse extern program for nursing students entering their last year. The program runs 8 weeks, starting mid-June, with 36-40 hours per week across 12-hour shifts under RN supervision.

Open for applicants from November 1, 2026, to January 15, 2027, with compensation at $17.28 per hour. This role supports patient care across UVA Health facilities and emphasizes teamwork and clinical skill development.

Formación

• Currently enrolled nursing students who graduate December 2027– May 2028.
• BSN students who have completed their 3rd year; ASN students who have completed their 1st year.
• Students may remain employed as a Nurse Extern until graduation completion.

Responsabilidades

• Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a UVA Community Health RN in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Assists patients with personal care as needed for optimal recovery during hospitalization.
• Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
• Maintains necessary skills and competencies.
