Job summary

Research Medical Center in Missouri seeks a Nurse Extern to support the nursing team while gaining hands-on experience as you progress through your RN program. You’ll deliver patient care under supervision, focusing on the full scope of nursing duties and compassionate care.

You’ll assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and help ensure patient comfort and safety in a hospital setting on-site. This role offers mentorship and real-world nursing exposure in a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support required within 30 days of start date.
• Active enrollment in an RN nursing program is required by start date.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential patient care by assisting with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated.
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and offering guidance for health and recovery.
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices and managing equipment.
• Engaging in learning opportunities and partnering with a supervisor to build your personal career development plan.
