Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Extern to gain hands-on experience within the nursing team in Belton, Missouri. You will assist with essential patient care while you progress through your nursing program, building skills for the Registered Nurse role.

You will learn under supervision, perform basic nursing tasks, document care, and communicate updates to the team. This role supports growth and patient safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Active enrollment in an RN nursing program is required and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide comfort and hygiene.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to the nursing team.
• Support mobility and patient safety while maintaining dignity.
• Assist with wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection as trained.
• Document care and communicate updates for coordinated patient care.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery steps.
