Job summary

A Nurse Extern Student Nurse at Overland Park Regional Medical Center will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves performing delegated basic patient care and activities of daily living, while gaining hands‑on experience and preparing for a future graduate nurse career.

Responsibilities include providing delegated nursing care, keeping environments safe and organized, and supporting daily nursing functions.

Qualifications

• Enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program; RN preferred.
• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals by start date.
• BLS certification obtained within 30 days of employment start.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Provide delegated basic nursing care in accordance with training and department needs.
• Assist nursing staff in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.
• Support the patient-care team with daily nursing functions and activities of daily living.
• Work flexible schedules, with the opportunity to earn shadow time on additional units.
• Participate in post-orientation and clinical skills check-off to expand competencies.
• Be eligible for early interview for Graduate Nurse opportunities.
