Job summary

HCA Healthcare invites motivated students to join as Nurse Externs at HCA Midwest Hospitals, gaining hands-on experience while pursuing their RN degree. You will support the nursing team with essential patient care tasks and learn under a registered nurse preceptor.

You will rotate through multiple hospital locations, build competency in AdaLs, vital signs, wound and catheter care, and documentation while growing your clinical confidence and professional development.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Must be actively enrolled in a Nursing program for RN; coursework ongoing to interview.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living and monitor vital signs.
• Perform wound care, catheter care, specimen collection and basic procedures.
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery.
• Maintain infection prevention practices and a safe, organized environment.
• Engage with supervision to develop your nursing career plan.
