Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is offering PRN Nurse Externship opportunities for students actively enrolled in nursing school. You will gain real hands-on experience alongside our nursing team, delivering safe, compassionate care while advancing your clinical skills.

Eligible students must be enrolled in a Nursing Fundamentals course and begin after fundamentals completion. BCLS is required within 30 days of start date, with potential for interview opportunities as graduation approaches.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED completed.
• Enrolled in Nursing Fundamentals in an RN degree program (Associates or Bachelors pending). Start date after fundamentals completion.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by assisting with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility and comfort.
• Performing nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team.
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices.
