Job summary

HCA Healthcare is offering a Nurse Extern Student Nurse externship at Overland Park, KS. The program provides hands-on experience without a minimum work requirement and paid shadow opportunities for every 24 hours worked.

Must be enrolled in a nursing program and have completed Nursing Fundamentals or equivalent. Early application for New Graduate opportunities is available, with support for Nurse Extern II roles.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program and must have completed Nursing Fundamentals by start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic nursing tasks.
• Assist the registered nurse in patient care and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical area.
• The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program and may perform higher-level procedures as competency is demonstrated.
• Maintain a flexible schedule with opportunities for shadow time on additional units.
• After orientation, complete clinical skills check-off and gain hands-on experience with a registered nurse.
