UNC Health in Raleigh offers a 10-week, paid Student Nurse Externship Program for rising senior ADN and BSN students to gain hands-on clinical experience and strengthen nursing skills in a fast-paced hospital setting. The externship provides exposure to patient care on a unit with interdisciplinary collaboration, with mentors guiding practice as you transition toward professional nursing.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
• Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsabilidades

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports significant changes to a RN or provider.
• Assists patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provides direct and some indirect patient care per the plan of care, including vital signs, wound care, and assistive activities.
• Reinforces routine teaching and supports the RN in examinations and procedures.
• Aids in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized unit environment.
