Job summary

Virtua Health in New Jersey seeks a Masters prepared RN to lead clinical education and residency programs, guiding a team of 3-5 Professional Development Specialists. Responsibilities span clinical quality, safety, and staff development across hospital divisions and Berlin sim center.

Locations will vary based on programming; day shift commitments with no weekends. 3+ years clinical experience required; Advanced Practice License eligibility in New Jersey preferred.

Qualifications

• Masters prepared registered nurse or near completion of advanced degree.
• 2 to 5 years recent clinical experience in specialty area.
• Possess certification relative to specialty: BLS, ACLS, NALS, PALS.
• Possess or eligible for Advanced Practice License in State of New Jersey.
• Continuing education and independent study to maintain knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Interprets clinical, technical, and patient data to improve clinical quality and patient outcomes for the department.
• Coordinates and directs interdisciplinary health teams in standardized patient care approaches.
• Directs patient discharge process including education, disposition and timeliness.
• Redesigns care modality for patient/disease management and resolves clinical quality issues with IDC team.
• Communicates practice changes from committees and ensures application of new policies, procedures, equipment and forms on the unit.
• Evaluates initial nursing skills through on-unit observation, chart review and discussion.
• Oversees learning and orientation, mediates education and competency shortfalls and develops preceptors.
• Develops and implements learning environment for the department.
• Evaluates efficacy of case studies and research to introduce standards of care practices.
• Provides real time counseling and coaching to the interdisciplinary team.
• Assesses competency assessment plans and education plans for staff.
