Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
• Active nursing license in the State of South Carolina or qualifying compact state.
• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience evaluating training programs and conducting nurse orientation/practical skills training.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct practical skills training and clinical evaluations for nursing staff.
• Lead medical provider orientation balancing independent judgment with facility security.
• Coordinate new nurse orientation and medical onboarding with the division of health services.
• Serve as lead instructor for first aid, CPR/AED, BLS, and Narcan programs; certify lieutenants.
• Teach medical, wellness and first aid modules across correctional officer courses; assist with audits.
• Track budget, ordering, and upkeep for training supplies and simulation gear.
• Provide medical triage on academy grounds during incidents until EMS arrives.
