Job summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL seeks a Professional Development Practitioner to plan, design, implement, and evaluate education for nursing staff. This role drives competency, mentorship, and practice transitions across departments, supporting lifelong learning and quality care.

You will develop curricula, coordinate orientation, and collaborate with leaders to assess outcomes, while advancing ANPD-aligned education and professional development initiatives.

Qualifications

• BSN degree from an approved school of nursing.
• Three (3) years of ICU experience required.
• Trauma experience preferred.
• Current Florida RN licensure required.
• Epic training and/or simulation training preferred.
• National specialty certification within 2 years of hire if available.
• BLS/ALS/PALS certifications as department requires.
• Must be able to handle strong personalities.
• Must be tech savvy.

Responsibilities

• Conducts ongoing needs assessments and formulates educational plans based on collected data.
• Develops and coordinates orientation processes for assigned areas with leadership.
• Participates in quality and safety initiatives.
• Implements educational programs to enhance nursing staff competence using modern teaching methods.
• Develops evidence-based curricula per ANPD standards for diverse learners.
• Verifies team member proficiency via direct observation at the point of care.
• Collaborates with leadership to review orientee progress and provide feedback.
• Analyzes competency verification methods and reports findings to stakeholders.
• Supports interdisciplinary projects and corporate-led courses as requested.
• Maintains and reports on education program records per regulatory standards.
