Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a Professional Development Specialist (PDS), a nurse educator with advanced knowledge to lead professional development, change management and evidence-based practice across nursing education. The PDS will collaborate with leadership to assess gaps, plan, implement and evaluate education initiatives and mentorship across units.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN with five years of clinical nursing plus educator experience, and are pursuing or hold MSN/MEd,

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• BSN required; MSN with education focus or MEd preferred.
• Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience or three years plus two years educator experience preferred.
• Current RN license in state of employment.
• Certification in Nursing Professional Development required within two years.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding: engages new hires before start date to assess learning needs.
• Assessment/Diagnosis: collaborates with Clinical Manager to identify learning gaps.
• Identification of Educational Outcomes: designs competency-based orientation based on orientee needs.
• Planning: coordinates orientation schedules and identifies preceptor alignment.
• Implementation: coordinates classroom and unit-based education and ensures participation.
• Evaluation: monitors orientation progress and documents outcomes weekly.
• Ongoing Staff Education: assesses annual learning needs and maintains current knowledge.
• Leadership/Professional Development: mentors staff and supports educator growth.
• Unit Population Competencies: ensures staff competency across patient populations.
