Job summary

JHHS - Jewish Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY seeks a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) 2 to collaborate with leadership and the Education Department to improve nursing practice and patient care. The role involves facilitating education programs, competency initiatives, and professional development across clinical, classroom, and virtual settings.

The NPD 2 will act as a clinical expert and learning facilitator, supporting staff competency, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement

Responsibilities

• Serves as a role model to nursing staff in the delivery of excellent patient care for designated patient populations
• Collaborates with nursing and interdisciplinary colleagues to address complex patient care issues
• Assists staff with clinical decision making and priority setting
• Collaborates with leadership to develop, evaluate, and implement standards of patient care and care planning
• Promotes an environment consistent with the core concepts of Patient Centered Care and core values
• Facilitates ongoing education, competency and professional development of nursing staff and students
• Coordinates onboarding curriculum for newly hired nursing department employees
• Plans, prepares, and maintains materials for competency-based educational programs
• Collaborates with stakeholders to assess learning needs for clinical staff and designs programs
• Facilitates learning using adult learning principles and evidence-based education
• Assists others in developing clinical reasoning skills
• Participates in learning technologies via simulation, LMS, virtual classroom, and multimedia
• Communicates effectively in visual, oral, and written form and demonstrates effective presentation skills
• Facilitates initial provider and renewal courses for BLS, ACLS, PALS and/or NRP as appropriate
• Challenges existing practice when not aligned with current best practices
