Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Nurse Clinician to work in a multidisciplinary environment, providing nursing care and patient assessments both by phone and in person. This role emphasizes clinical judgment, independent thinking, and organizing patient education for the unit served.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in Nursing, state RN licensure, CPR certification, and at least two years of relevant clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care settings.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• State Licensed Registered Nurse for State of employment.
• Certification in Basic CPR.
• 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure OSHA compliance.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document in the medical record.
• Carry out routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs, and specimen handling.
• Interpret abnormalities, document interventions, and coordinate with physicians and other care teams.
• Collaborate with departments to coordinate patient care and referrals as needed.
• Triage telephone inquiries using clinical assessment skills and service standards.
• Respond to medical emergencies per organizational protocols and equipment use.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians and delegate tasks per Illinois law.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education and community outreach as requested.
