Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Port Huron, MI, is seeking a dedicated patient care assistant for the 4 South Cardiac Step Down. Working days, 7:00am-7:30pm, you will support nurses with day-to-day patient care and help maintain a therapeutic environment.

You will assist with activities of daily living, ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance, and contribute to safe, compassionate care for patients and families on the unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six (6) months of job-related experience and/or training.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for daily activities and personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, feeding, getting out of bed, etc.).
• Ensures compliance with health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment and follows infection-control policies.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
2. Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
3. Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

5. Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
6. Performs other related job duties as requested.
