Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Port Huron, MI, seeks a Night Shift Nurse Assistant to join our Float Pool. Under supervision of a nurse, you will perform patient care activities and support daily needs to promote comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a clean environment, adhering to HIPAA and infection control policies, and collaborating with the care team to meet treatment goals. High school diploma and BLS required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Six months of job-related experience and/or training.
• BLS certification from AHA/ARC or Canadian equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.
